To begin with let's deal with the fact that such meta tags and what is their purpose.
Meta tags are used to describe the properties of any HTML document. They are placed within these tags as <HEAD> ... </ HEAD>, but after attribute <title> page title </ title>, which is a must.
At the moment, there are about ten meta tags used to describe information about html-page:
"Content-Type" content = "text/html; <META HTTP-EQUIV = "Content-Type" content = "text / html; charset = windows-1251 "/>
The tag is designed to indicate the current character and the type of document. If we talk about those blogs that run on WordPress, this line should look like this:
"Content-Type" content = "text/html; charset=UTF-8" / > <Meta http-equiv = "Content-Type" content = "text / html; charset = UTF-8" />
Look closely. At the end of the tag after the space put a slash "/". This is in order to validate the page on W3C standard was successful.
"Title" CONTENT = "Заголовок страницы" / > <META NAME = "Title" CONTENT = "Page Title" />
Indicates the title of the web page. It can be seen in the browser tab. However, it is not recommended, the default title should be placed here:

When indexing pages search robot should be guided by key words. However, in practice it turns not always.

Indicates that the page is dynamic, but its content is often changed. If this does not happen, then the value will be changed to Dynamic Static.

Instructs the SS:
- noindex - the page is not indexed;

It should be noted that the values may be used together, for example: noindex, nofollow. Links and default page available for indexing.
Some meta tags are out of date, so do not add much value to the search engines and browsers. Us from all these tags have been used only a few, namely - Keywords, Title, Description and Robots.
Move on to the experiment
Robots and Title tags are mandatory. The point is to Keywords and Description situation is quite different. Typically, search engines are not counted, but encourages them to use most of the webmasters. I would like a more detailed look into the situation, so we decided to conduct the following experiment.
To perform this test had to remove two of the most annoying tag on the web-site.
Then we waited for the full re-indexing the site will be Google and Yandex. Waited at least kakih-nibud changes. After a while, noticed that traffic to the site has changed, and for the better.
Tagged it was about 25 visitors per day, removing the tags - was equal to about 70 people. Do the findings, the increase is quite good.
The question arises, why is this happening? Analysis of statistics has shown that visitors do not come for those queries that were made under the page. Among other things, there is one more change - in the search results annotations to web pages more attractive to users.
Before, when we independently wrote the description for web pages, search engines often not used, and the other focused on the Swasey. At the moment the search engines write more relevant than it prevented tags unclear.
It is worth noting that after TCI fell from 40 to 20 and 0 to PageRank 2, site traffic still fell.
Further, it was decided to carry out a similar experiment on this blog. As a result, TCI has not changed at all, and PageRank dropped to 3 from 4. Speaking of attendance, it had increased to 150, although earlier was 100 per day.
